“Aussie Shred,” the Latest Gymkhana Film, Unleashes Unprecedented Challenges Across Australia.

On December 9, 2025, Hoonigan and Subaru Motorsports USA premiered the latest installment of the Gymkhana series, “Aussie Shred.” This film stars action sports legend Travis Pastrana, who takes on the most extreme stunts ever seen in the franchise, set against the backdrop of Australia.

Behind the wheel of a specially built Gymkhana machine dubbed the “Brataroo,” Pastrana navigates an intense sequence of action. Based on the 1978 Subaru BRAT, the vehicle was co-developed by Subaru of America and Vermont SportsCar. It features a turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 670 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque, revving up to 9,500 RPM. This setup enables the vehicle to perform the aggressive jumps, slides, and flights that define the Gymkhana style.

Filming took place in locations across Australia, including Sydney Harbour, the Outback, and Mount Panorama in Bathurst. The film also includes appearances by prominent figures in local motorsports, such as Dakar Rally champion Toby Price, Subaru WRC driver Chris Atkinson, and Nitro Circus BMX riders. These stars come together to showcase adrenaline-filled scenes, including a rolling drag race down Mount Panorama’s Conrod Straight.

Directed by Hoonigan co-founder Brian Scotto, the film has significant personal meaning. “We had originally tried to shoot Gymkhana Nine in Australia but were turned down due to anti-hooning laws at the time. Now, nearly a decade later, we were welcomed back. This made the project incredibly special and motivated us to push the limits both on and off the camera,” Scotto said.

Aussie Shred inherits the spirit of Ken Block, the founder of the original Gymkhana films, and takes the series into new territory. By showcasing the dramatic contrast between Australia’s bustling urban areas and its vast, red deserts, the film brings an unprecedented visual and emotional depth to the franchise.

Now streaming on the official Hoonigan YouTube channel, Aussie Shred stands as a climactic entry in the iconic Gymkhana series.
